♥Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow Swatches and Review♥

Description from website: Bobbi’s fresh take on glitter lights up eyes with a combination of shimmering pearls and fine glitter. Now in limited edition shades that are perfect for both day and night.

♥Where to purchase: www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com
♥Price: $28.00
♥Color: Silver Moon, Mica, Gold Star (From swatch photo)
This collection of sparkly eyeshadows have a very sheer hint of color with shimmering pearls and fine glitter. If your looking for something to brighten up your eyes for a night on the town, this is perfect for you! These shadows are crease free and last all day, so no worries about re-applying throughout the day or night. Personally, I would recommend using it over a matte color rather than alone on the eyelid to make your eyes sparkle with a pop of color to really stand out! In the picture above, I applied a makeup color underneath Mica and Silver Moon so the glitter and color would show up a bit more. Again, these are very sheer but have the perfect amount of shine under light.

Also comes in these lovely colors: Ballet Pink, Bone, Black Chocolate, Cement & Taupe
♥Final thoughts: I love the range of colors in this collection! They have just the right amount of shimmer and shine and could be used to make a variety of different looks. For me, it is a bit on the pricey side but if sparkle and shine is something you are looking for, I would definitely check these out!

Thank you and I hope you enjoyed this review!

♥Laura Mercier Graphic Liquid Eye Liner Review♥

Description from website: The ultimate liquid eye liner! Graphic Liquid Eye Liner is a glossy, long wearing liquid eyeliner with an easy to apply felt tip applicator.
This item is part of the Art Deco Muse Collection, our Holiday Collection that was inspired by the decorative architecture, style and mood of the Art Deco perios in Paris in the mid-1920’s. Laura created rich makeup shades of gold, red and black to beautifully contract each other. This item is a new permanent addition to our eyeliner collection.

 ♥Where to purchase: www.lauramercier.com
♥Price: $24.00
♥Color: Black
♥Application: Long wearing liquid eyeliner with an easy to apply felt tip applicator
The first thing I noticed is that this product goes on very wet. Very different from any liquid liner I have ever tried or used previously. This could be a plus for someone who has never tried a liquid liner as it is very easy to apply.  Also, I love the length of the applicator! It makes it very easy to hold and apply. Goes on very smooth.
The cons I have noticed with this product:  1) It settles into fine lines and makes it very difficult to draw a straight perfect line without bleeding out a bit.
2) It does require a few coats to create a solid black line. (Once you do, it does last all day and the pigmentation lasts)
3) Be VERY careful when putting the applicator tip back into the bottle as the wet product bubbles up and comes out of the top. I had to slowly try to get it back in the bottle without the product trying to spill out.

♥Final thoughts: Overall I think this product has amazing lasting power and very pigmented (when applied with a few coats) but is too wet of a product for me. I think you could find many eyeliners that have the same lasting power for a lot cheaper, that do not settle into fine lines.
Thank you and I hope you enjoyed this review!

  • Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for most intense, long-lasting color saturation
  • Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant
  • Ophthalmologist-tested
  • Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

Price: Eye color - $6-7/each Lip color $7-8/each

Size: .14 oz
Texture: Cream
Visual Attractiveness:  Eye tattoo very similar to MAC paint pots
Loved: The variety of colors, how well they wear!

  • My Final Thoughts: LOVE these, but let me just clarify my stand on this... is this the cleanest as far as ingredients in eye shadow go? No. But, it's a step in the right direction from what I was using... Plus, I love that it's a cream because powder shadows always get in my eyes and fallout on to my face. I wore the darkest eye color , Audacious Asphalt: Dark Gray & lip color, Ultimate Blush: Pink all day long today and it didn't crease or fade at all-not the slightest bit! I have pretty oily eye lids so that really surprised me! It also came off super easily with my makeup wipes! I have a HUGE passion for makeup- (especially eye shadow) and have a laundry list of things I look for when shopping for it. I'm really picky! I usually only like pressed powders (no loose powders, creams usually crease on me very easily, etc.- so this is a huge challenge when looking for naturals) I also prefer a variety of shade / color options, all highly pigmented and long lasting. Color payoff is also an absolute must. The ingredients can be as clean as a whistle- but if they don't show-up on me or wear well, it's a total deal breaker and I'm not going to use them, bottom line. In my experience, it's been difficult to find truly natural makeup with a lot of color options, so this is where I allow myself to bend certain ingredient rules if I have to. It's pretty difficult to get some of the brighter colors without Carmine and other not so snazzy ingredients. All in all I really love these and the way they perform! I would definitely purchase these again in the future.
  • Lipcolor - Super moisturizing, Amazing color pay off - very pigmented!!! and same long lasting power, also comes off really easy with makeup remover wipes. xo

    ♥ ♥ Afterglow Cosmetics Review ♥ ♥

From the website: Afterglow Cosmetics focuses on offering the most natural color cosmetics on the market, free of many of the synthetic preservatives, bismuth oxychloride, petro-chemicals, synthetic dyes and fillers found in traditional cosmetics. Afterglow is a proud signer of The Breast Cancer Fund's 'Compact for Safe Cosmetics', sponsored by The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

Price range: Setting powder $26/ Bronzer and Blush $23 each (They do offer more products, these are just the ones I have tried)

Amount Of Product Used For It To Be Effective: Both the bronzer and blush I found to be very pigmented... lots of color and the good thing about it is that it lasts all day long on my skin. I have pretty oily skin throughout the day and for it to last in this Florida heat is pretty amazing to me.

First Impression: I just paid how much for this??? But, maybe it's worth it...

Verdict: I have the worst time with loose powders and can't seem to get the hang of the "Swirl, Tap, Buff" technique lol. I am all about pressed powders people! I feel like you loose too much product with loose powder, plus- it's unhealthy to breathe it in...when powder is loose, we tend to breathe more in (which actually is carcinogenic) But overall, the color payoff is great if you like using loose powders and the ingredients look safe enough to use.

    I'm a girl on a mission

On a mission in an attempt to lessen the toxic overload on my body, without sacrificing my standards! - I know there are plenty of things out there in the world that I have no control over, but anything I use on my face and body every day and night I do have control over. I use these products so much and over a very long period of time, so I want to make sure I choose the healthiest products possible, while still achieving the same goals! :)

The EWG (Environmental Working Group) Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database rates products and ingredients as "O" being the BEST and "10" being the WORST. Although the Skin Deep website is not the ultimate Beauty Bible, it's the only thing we've got as a guideline...

My biggest challenge yet... is finding Natural / Organic Makeup that really works! I'm determined to because I remind myself that we have the right to know exactly what we are buying and using, and that takes time and research.

My ultimate goal form this blog is to save myself AND the world (LOL... This would be my Miss America Speech if I had to have one- wink, wink). I'm determined to switch all of my toxic beauty products out, and replace them with fewer, safer products that actually work and simplify my beauty regimen while living on a budget. I would love to share ideas and review products with you of things that I am trying and hopefully we can find many other, safer options together.

    Thank you!
    xoxo
